Collegiate Update

I moved to college 5 weeks ago today. Moving day was a little stressful...and the first week was hard. Now, however, things are getting "normal" (as if any of us knows what "normal" really is) again. It feels like I have started over in life, and have been given a chance to really find out who I am. High school is over (thank goodness!!) and most of that drama has gone away.

I have found those who continually seem to enjoy high school drama (for some unknown reason), and some who like to keep their lives as simple a possible. I find that I like to be with the people whose lives are generally simple. It is easier to have fun with them, and I don't get into "K-syndrome".

Working out has become a regular thing for me now. I find it a good stress relief, and endorphine releaser (which I LOVE!! :D ). I am finding myself at the gym more and more often...mostly on the elipticle machines, and I have lost 5 or so lbs. since I've gotten here....and I'm working on loosing more.

Many of my classes are increasingly interesting, mostly because I get the lessons from the perspective of the church. I like knowing the church's take on evolution, and the formation of the galaxies. I have found that, unlike the catholic church, the LDS church and science can co-exist quite comfortably. It only deepens my testimoney of the church to which I belong. :)

I have also gotten back into swing/ballroom dancing...and am LOVING that too!! I find great pleasure in dancing (especially with the opposite sex! ;) lol), and getting to know people through it. Dancing, and most particularly following a lead, comes naturally to me, almost like breathing. It is one of the easiest things for me, and I love being able to be good at it without having to try too hard.

All in all, college is a BLAST and a HALF!! I love being up here, and having the feeling of being totally independent. So much fun!! :D

Always,

Relationship Advice

Ok, so I promised to give out some relationship advice...

First of all, there's a saying that I like to use when couples fight, and look for advice...it is this: "Don't go to bed angry." The saying means this: if you have a fight with your significant other, get it resolved ASAP. Fighting is like inflicting a wound on yourself and the other person. If you go to bed angry, then you are letting the anger fester inside you, and just like a sore, it will become a parasite to your soul. The more you think about it, and stay angry, the worse things will seem, and the worse they will eventually become.

If you are one of those prideful people that think the other person should apologize first (for whatever silly reason...ie. "they started it", "he/she should be the bigger person", etc.), I have something to say that you might find a little harsh. But keep reading anyway. :) Get over yourself. As my wise mother would say "Take the high road". To "take the high road" means that you will be the bigger person, and apologize first. Or when confronted with an insult, you just let it roll off your back. DO NOT (let me repeat this, for it is important) DO NOT (one more time...) DO NOT hold onto insults, or whatever other mean things people might say. It's not worth it. I promise that if you will let it go, you will be SO MUCH HAPPIER!! Holding onto insults is like holding onto a hot coal. The longer you hold onto it, the more damaged YOU become. The people who insult you might do it on accident, or on purpose...however, they usually move on pretty quickly, and forget about it. You should do the same.

Pretend that you are wearing a rubber duck suit. Insults are like drops of water. Let them roll off like the little insignificant drops of rain they are.

My next piece of advice is to learn to compromise. Relationships are all about give and take. The more you give of yourself (time especially), the happier you will be. Don't think so much about the take...just give of yourself. Life will be better. :)

Watch for red flags. Red flag examples: If he/she abuses you (physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc.), if he/she is always in "poor me, woe is me, control drama" mode, if they are disrespectful to their Mother (for guys) or Father (for girls) (disrespect for the parent of the opposite sex is a big sign of how they will treat you in the future), other big things that might bug you (leaving clothes everywhere, uncleanliness, B.O., swearing, drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.). You can work through the small things, but these are the big things that you need to look out for.

Ok....the big one....

Cheating. If you're thinking about cheating on your significant other, DON'T. If you want out of the relationship, then get out. If you are married and looking at people of the opposite sex that are not your spouse, STOP! Do more things with your spouse, and STOP looking at others. You married that person for a reason! Out of all the people you could have married, you chose THAT person. Remember that reason, and STOP looking at people of the opposite sex that you aren't married to!
If you suspect your sig. other of cheating, confront them. Look for signs that they are lying, you should know this person well, and should be able to tell if they are lying or not. If you don't know the signs of lying, look them up on the Internet! Simply ask them, pluck up the courage, and just do it. If they try to avoid the question ("How could you ask me such a thing?" etc.), ask again until you get a straight answer. Look them in the eye. Most people cannot look another in the eye and lie, straight to the others face. Chances are, you will get an honest answer (whether you like the answer or not depends on the case).

I think those are the big ones that I'd like to leave you with right now. :)
Please remember that each case is different. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me on the comments section of my blog. :)

Disney thoughts...

It's here!! Something my bestie Brianna and I have been dreaming about for so long! The Wii Disney Sing Along game! Hooray!! :D

Confession: I am a huge Disney fan. I planned on living in the castle before they even put rooms up there! :) HA!

I know pretty much all there is to know about Disney. Why do I love it so much? Perhaps it's because there is ALWAYS a happy ending. Perhaps it's because all the problems get resolved. Perhaps it's because the Princesses all wear such beautiful dresses. Perhaps it's because I've always wished for a "Disney Fairytale" life.

That isn't to say that I don't live a charmed life, because I really do. I went to the chiropractor today, who is one of my friends, and he was talking about where to take his wife for their anniversary. I told him about a few good places, and he said "You know, I'm 2wice as old as you are, and you've been to way more places than I have." We both laughed because we knew it was true.

Anyway, I'm getting onto a tangent, and off of my Disney subject....
Did you know that they made an instrumental version of some of the romantic Disney songs, and turned them into a CD? It's called Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding. I am SO playing that at my wedding!! :)

Someone once asked me which Disney Prince I found most attractive...and I think I've finally figured out my answer. It's a tie between Prince Eric and Prince Naveen. I love how caring, kind, brave, and down to earth Prince Naveen winds up at the end of the story. I love Prince Eric because of his hair (I mean really, who can pull off that swoop-y thing that he does with his bangs in real life?). His smile is pretty awesome too, as is his love for his dog, compassion, his bravery, and heroics.

I debated over Prince Adam (a.k.a. The Beast) for a little while, because of the transformation he goes through (mentally and spiritually, not physically!). But looking back at the movie, his nose is a little to large...when he goes to kiss Belle, he almost looks like he could take out her eye. But his eyes, those deep, beautiful blue, eyes, wow. The Disney animators certainly got something right in that scene. You know what though...I'm a sucker for blue eyes. I was watching Percy Jackson and the Olympians the other night, and really looked at the lead male. Holy Snap! I was totally infatuated with him for the rest of the hour and 15 min! I like other colors of eyes too, but blue...that deep, Caribbean blue....Ah! Somebody pinch me!

I've heard other arguments about Shang (Mulan), Pheobus (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and John Smith (Pocahontas). However, as a true Disney fan, I must state here that they are NOT Princes in any way shape or form. They are military men (in a broad sense), NOT royalty. See, the Princes, they have it all...militarial command, the looks, the title, the charm, etc.

I must say though, after all this Disney Prince talk...it makes a girl wonder. Is there really a knight in shining armor out there for me? Could there be someone out there that will love me the way you see in the Disney movies? If I find that person, could we really live "Happily Ever After"? I think the answer to this is yes. You can live "Happily Ever After" with the man you love, but you have to work at it. My advice? See my next blog. I'll discuss happy marriage (or if you aren't married, relationship) tactics.

A Slow-ish Day

I think we have a small farm in our backyard. Not that this is a bad thing...I enjoy being able to go into my backyard and pick fresh raspberries and other veggies...cooking with fresh eggs from our chickens. My Mom calles my Dad a "Gentleman Farmer".

Honestly...one day I come home from work on a Saturday, and I find a box of chicks just outside of the garage, my Dad working in the yard building a chicken coop. After talking to him, I find out that it was like, this almost split decision that he had had that morning. :) Go figure. My Dad, the split-decision maker. NOT! My Dad doesn't do anything without doing extensive research, which is one of the things I love best about him. But I suppose every now and again, everybody has to make an impetuous decision.

So now, not only do we have a garden, consisting of 2 large raised beds, a raspberry patch and a grape patch...but also chickens as well. :)

This morning I sent my little sister out to get the eggs. We get so many eggs that we have to give them away! It's like when our old Bishop planted 6 zuchini plants, when like...half of one zuchini plant will produce PLENTY for a family of 5-6, and they all had to give a ton of it away. It's the same thing with us and our eggs. :) Isn't is awesome to be able to share things? :D Farmville in your very own backyard! :) lol

Other than that, it was a pretty relaxed day. It gave me a lot of time to think about a lot of things...however I think I'll hold that until another blog. :) It's getting late.

Live life to the fullest extent!!

Serious Update. True Confessions.

So I know that I've kind of failed at keeping this this updated...but here goes a new attempt. :)

My favorite color is cerulean blue.

I love photography. Love to take pictures, and (when I look good) to be in them.

My favorite flowers are normally roses, when it's rainy I love Sunflowers. I also like pansies.

I think that lilacs smell like summer. They are also one of my favorites.

My favorite books are written by Richard Paul Evans. Ask me to pick one...The Sunflower. I like
many books besides his, including the Harry Potter series, and the writings of Brandon Mull.

My favorite gum is 5 React gum. I am chewing a piece right now.

I love all kinds of food. Italian, Mexican, Chinese, American, etc. Not a big one for spicey-ness...

My favorite people to spend time...I spend time with. :)

I love all music, except for rap, scream-o, and some punk and hard rock.

My favorite holiday is Christmas. Love it so much! Halloween is my least favorite.

I have differing opinions on February 14th. Sometimes it's Valentines Day, other years, it's Single's Awareness Day. :)

My heroes are my Mother, Father, and the Savior.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am proud of it.

My least favorite animals are snakes, spiders, and cockroaches. I don't like how they move.

I don't like to be scared...which is probably why I don't like Halloween.

My passion is performing. I love to sing, solo or ensemble. I love to participate in plays.

I am a "play-junkie". Thank you, Mom, for making me so. :)

My iPOD is full of playlists from Musicals.

I love to Ballroom dance. It is challenging, and one of the most fun things that I do.

My dream is to (when I get to Heaven, since he died) ballroom with Gene Kelly. He was a amazing triple threat to Hollywood. Actor, Singer, Dancer...love him!

I do have a bucket list. Yes I saw the show, and yes I had one before I saw the show.

My room is cluttered with memories...ie. pictures, trophies, magazine clippings, etc.

I love clothes. I wish I could wear big dresses everyday. I wish they would bring back the corset.

My favorite song is "The Way You Look Tonight". I like both performances by Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble.

I love Michael Buble and Josh Groban. I think their voices are amazing, and wish I could duet
with them.

My favorite thing to do with friends and family is play games. Card or Board, it doesn't matter.
I took ballet for 8 years, and Ballroom for 3.

My plan for the Fall of 2010 is to attend BYU-Idaho (to those who attended 8 years ago..it's Rick's college. ;) )It took me 6 hours to register for classes because their server crashed.

I love my Shih Tzu, Houdini. He his my little, black, magic dog.

My biggest pet-peeve is grammer. Spell things right, or I beat you. :D "K, pumpkin?"

I love to quote movies. It makes up lots of my vocabulary.

My favorite T.V. shows, all have titles of one word. House, Psych, Fringe, and Glee.

I am a Gleek. (Glee-geek)

My life has a soundtrack. Constantly. Whether I sing it, or it plays in the background.

I randomly burst out into song, a British, Irish, or Russian accent. No, I don't sing in the accents....usually.

My "I'm in the mood for something good" treat is always a dessert. I love them!

I love to travel. A lot. I have been to England, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Germany, Venice, and Veracruz (Mexico).

My biggest project was planning my wedding, down to the date (June 16, 2016. If I'm engaged next year (my parent's greatest fear!) my fiance is going to have to wait until that day. :) ) I am 17, and not engaged. Nor am I dating anyone. However, my wedding is planned...except for the cake. 15 years of planning, and I can't settle on a cake.

I am a Disney freak. Ask me any Disney question, and I can answer it. When I was 5, my career plan was to become a Disney Princess and work in the park. My favorite Princess is Belle. I look a lot like her (act like her too), and love that she saves the Prince, just as he saves her.

My lineage traces back to royalty on my Mother's Icelandic side. If they went back to a monarchy, I really would be a Princess. :) Thank you very much. :D ha!

I sometimes wish Iceland would go back to a monarchy. ;)

My Grandparents started with a total of 4, and I now have only one left. My Dad's mother. I love her SO much, and hope that she makes it to my wedding.

I have a great fear that my Grandmother will not make it to see my wedding.

My heart has been seriously, and deeply broken only once. I am much more careful now...which is why deep heartbreak has only happened once. Lesser heartbreaks have, and I'm sure, will happen.

I love people who are observant. If you are one of those people, you will have already noticed that the beginning of my sentances switch between "I" and "My".

My childhood was pretty much wonderful.

I lost my best friend in 5th grade (ok, not really...but she moved a long ways away). It turned me into a clam. I became comfortable in my shell for 3 long years. In 9th grade, I began to have friends again. They were the ones to crack me out of my shell. Thanks guys. :)

My teeth used to be crooked (until braces!), and I had glasses. At the same time. It was not the best time of my life. :)

Well...there's me...more or less. :) I'll keep you updated.
